I’m a huge fan of the Genesis framework and more specifically the feminine Genesis themes that go with it.
They’re called ‘child themes’ and picking the right one can be a bit of a task.
(And, yes, there are non-feminine Genesis themes, but who cares about those ones 🙂 )
Finding Feminine Genesis Themes
There are SO many beautiful, feminine Genesis themes.
I could literally scour the internet for hours, looking at all the gorgeous themes!
MomBlogLife.com is built using the Divine theme by Restored316Designs.
(**Update: I have since redesigned MomBlogLife using the Extra Theme by Elegant Themes.
I do, however, have other blogs using the themes I recommend here and I still love them 🙂 )
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon Restored316Designs, but boy am I glad I did.
I have never, in all my years blogging, seen so many feminine Genesis themes in one place.
Well, until I came across Creative Market and all the designers with their feminine Genesis themes ;).
But, here’s why I fell in love with the Restored316Designs feminine Genesis themes – Lauren (creator of Restored316) is just like you or me.
She’s a mom boss who started her company after having a baby and realizing she wanted to design her life in order to stay at home with her babies.
I love relate-able Mom success story that motivates.
Don’t you?
Hopefully, you do 🙂
Lauren is another example of putting your mind to something in order to achieve what you want. You CAN create the life you fantasize about.
As you create a mom blog (or any other blog), keep in mind investing in a good theme will only make your blog more appealing.
Choosing the right theme is the foundation for building your own brand online.
Deciding to go with a feminine Genesis theme is a no brainer because your target audience is likely women.
The Cost Of Good Feminine Genesis Themes
I know some of you are not going to love the cost of using a Genesis theme and I completely understand where you’re coming from, trust me.
If you have a column in your family budget that says ‘Blogging Expenses’, I’m sure the money set aside is not a large amount.
Especially if your family is currently living on one income.
I was in your shoes and not that long ago – I started my blog business on very limited funds.
If I thought about spending more than was budgeted for blog expenses, I had to have the dreaded (well, they used to be dreaded) conversation with my husband.
I’m one lucky woman – hubby completely gets what I’m doing with my blog business and supports me fully.
So, in general, he will always agree to my ‘extra’ blog expenses. 🙂
The Genesis Framework will cost about $60/USD and then, depending which of the feminine Genesis themes you like, you could be looking at $75ish/USD on top.
So I had to bite the bullet, for lack of better wording, and pay around $160ish/CAD (remember, I have to deal with a fluctuating, weak Canadian dollar!) to get the Genesis Framework and feminine Genesis theme of my choice.
I thought I’d share some of my favs with you – it may help narrow down your search 🙂
Here are my top 3 favorite feminine Genesis themes:
1) Divine Theme – Restored316Designs.com
Duh. Of course, the Divine Theme by Restored316Designs makes the top of my favorites list 🙂
As I said above, I’ve built MomBlogLife.com on the theme.
Let me know what you think 😉
Reach out to me if you want to know more about the Divine theme.
Like how user-friendly it is and how to set it up 🙂
Definitely my favorite theme of all time!
If you’re not sure what theme works best for your needs, Restored316 has put together a short quiz to help you discover the best theme. Check it out here.
2) Refined Theme – Restored316Designs.com
MomBlogLife.com was ALMOST built on the Refined theme, but then I saw the Divine theme and fell more in love with it!
What I love about the Refined theme is the classic appeal that will never go out of style.
It’s not too busy.
It’ll grow with you as you create and build your blog.
The Refined theme or any theme by Restored316Designs will set your blog up for success.
3) Kate Marcado – Studiomommy.com
One of my fav feminine themes that uses the Genesis framework is Kate Marcado (theme name) by Studiomommy.com.
Check out any of April’s designs, I guarantee you’ll fall in love.
She has so many beautiful, feminine Genesis themes and the best part?
Some of them cost $25!! Affordable and feminine.
A win-win in my books.
